IITA, FARA Reconfirm commitments to Boost Agriculture in Africa

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) has renewed their commitment at improving the agricultural sector in Africa while working towards scientific innovations in the sector.

The commitment renewal which happens to be the first mission of Dr. Yemi Akinbamijo as the executive director of FARA was geared at creating impact at farm levels on the continent. The two bodies also emphasise the need to renew their relationships to enable scientific innovations and improve the continent’s agricultural sector.

IITA in a press statement revealed that Dr. Akinbamijo spoke on ‘The Science Agenda for African Agriculture: Implications for IITA and other CGIAR actors,’ where he made known the need for a synergy between the two institutions in the quest to develop agricultural sector on the continent.
